Blue Angels resume schedule, will fly SeaFair
SEATTLE – The United States Navy’s flight demonstration squadron known as the Blue Angels are resuming their schedule this summer.
The Blue Angels squadron, made up of aviators from the Navy and Marines, halted all demonstrations after a fatal plane crash on June 2 that killed Capt. Jeff Kuss in Smyrna, Tennessee.
The Blue Angels will resume their demonstrations on July 2 in Traverse City, Michigan with a modified five jet demonstration, along with Fat Albert, the Blue Angels C-130. They are slated to appear at Seafair August 6-7.
"The Team is proud to resume the Blue Angels mission, representing the pride and professionalism of the Navy and Marine Corps, and inspiring a culture of excellence. The Blue Angels are looking forward to flying in Traverse City, Mich., Fourth of July weekend, and are also honored to have the opportunity to perform in celebration of our great nation's Independence Day," said Cmdr. Ryan Bernacchi, commanding officer and flight leader. "Our fans and the entire air show industry have been extremely patient as we have navigated through this very difficult loss of our teammate, and for that, we will always be grateful."
