Man arrested in Port Angeles kidnapping, rape case

PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — Police have arrested a man for investigation of kidnapping a woman on the street and raping her in an abandoned building in Port Angeles.


The Peninsula Daily News reports (http://goo.gl/ufcu2W ) 26-year-old Maxx Edward Johnson was booked Thursday afternoon on rape and kidnapping charges in the June 11 incident.

A woman reported to police that day that a man kidnapped her at knifepoint in the city and forced her to accompany him to several areas near downtown before taking her to an abandoned building nearby and sexually assaulting her.

She told police she did not know her assailant.

Port Angeles Police Sgt. Jason Viada says officers located and arrested Johnson in the downtown area without incident.

It was unclear whether Johnson had retained an attorney.
