Large alligator is a unique road hazard

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. – This large alligator was spotted crossing the road in North Carolina near a McDonald's.

The gator was seen in Snead's Ferry in Onslow County on Saturday and Topsail Online Gazette posted an image of it to Facebook. No injuries were reported.

“We're told animal control was called to safely relocate this big boy,” says the post.

Alligators are found in North Carolina from the northern coast near Virginia to the southern coast near the border of South Carolina.

Alligators have recently been in the news following the tragic death of a 2-year-old Nebraska boy drowned by an alligator in Orlando, Fla.
