Man shoots, kills singer Christina Grimmie while she's signing autographs, then kills himself

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A man carrying two guns opened fire on singer Christina Grimmie while the 22-year-old was signing autographs after a concert in Orlando Friday night and then shot and killed himself, police said. She died of her injuries.

The Orlando Sentinel said the shooting was reported at the Bumby Avenue venue east of downtown about 10:30 p.m. ET after a concert by the band "Before you Exit" and Grimmie, who was popular on YouTube before appearing on NBC's singing competition show The Voice.

The concert ended about 10 p.m., police spokeswoman Wanda Miglio said.  After the show, Grimmie and the band signed autographs near a merchandise table inside. That's when a man armed with two guns walked up and opened fire on Grimmie, Miglio said.  Grimmie was hit at least once.

Grimmie's brother tackled the suspect to the ground, Miglio said, but the suspect then fatally shot himself.

Police are working to confirm his identity, Miglio said.

Josh Call, who was outside the venue working a vegan hot dog stand, told the newspaper he heard four or five gunshots inside the building.

The Sentinel said #PrayforChristina was trending on Twitter.
