Seattle Swedish helps patients celebrate National Cancer Survivors Day (VIDEO)

SEATTLE -- Today is National Cancer Survivors Day -- a day to celebrate the millions who battle, or have beaten, the disease.

The celebration included a Hawaiian luau at Swedish Medical Center's "Survivorship Clinic."

Seattle resident Doreen Boehm calls herself "cancer triumphant" ... for winning her battle against stage-four oral, head and neck cancer.

"It's pretty profound, being told you have stage four cancer ... when you're a single mother, flying solo as I say... "You need to be able to talk and share and tell your story. So that you don't feel crazy. To know this is real, this is valid. I mean it's very powerful, positive to have your feelings validated."

The luau included appearances by the Seafair princesses.
