28-year-old skydiver dies after 'parachute collapsed' over Snohomish County, sheriff's office says

SNOHOMISH, Wash. -- A 28-year-old skydiver died Friday after his "parachute collapsed into itself" over Harvey Field, the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office said.

Nine people did a standard jump from 13,000 feet, the sheriff's office said in a news release, and the victim was reportedly practicing "advanced maneuvers."

He attempted an "aggressive turn, when his parachute apparently collapsed into itself," the news release said. He landed hard and a nearby civilian attempted CPR. Medics arrived shortly after and pronounced him dead at the scene.

The victim's identification as well as the manner and cause of death will be determined by the county medical examiner's office.
