Choosing the right SPF for you
If you've ever stood in the sunscreen aisle at the drug store and wondered which sunscreen you should choose... you're not alone. There are so many options and not all are created equal.
On Q13 Fox News at 5, Dr. Barbara Fox stopped by to talk about SPF, UVA and UVB. She has some great advice on which sunscreen to choose, how much and how often you should apply it, and when to toss it out.
Her best advice is wear it everyday. Interestingly, she says the Pacific Northwest tends to have a higher incidence of skin cancer, in part because people think with our overcast days, they don't need to apply sunblock. That's not true! Dr. Fox says everyone should be wearing sunscreen, everyday, to prevent sun damage and premature aging.
