Obama to visit Seattle next month for Inslee fundraiser

OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) — State Democratic Party officials say that President Barack Obama will be in Seattle next month for a private fundraiser for Gov. Jay Inslee.

Party spokesman Jamal Raad said Friday that the fundraiser will be on June 24 at the Washington State Convention Center. Invitations have already gone out for the event, and tickets start at $250, Raad said.

Inslee, who is seeking his second term, faces Republican challenger Bill Bryant.

As of this month, Inslee has raised about $5 million, compared to $1.6 million raised by Bryant.

An April poll by independent pollster Stuart Elway found 48 percent of voters surveyed preferred Inslee while 36 percent supported Bryant. Another 16 percent were undecided.

The general election is Nov. 8.
