Man pulled from Lake Cushman in Mason County dies

SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a 22-year-old Bellevue man pulled from a lake in Mason County has died.

The Mason County Sheriff's Office said in a news release the man reportedly jumped from a raft to swim toward his daughter at a nearby dock on Lake Cushman Tuesday after seeing large dogs approach.

The man's girlfriend told authorities he went under the water and never made it to the dock.

Authorities say maintenance worker Randy Bruff jumped into the lake, found the man and brought him out of the water.

Bruff performed CPR until medics arrived and the man's pulse returned at that time. The man died later at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

The King County medical examiner will work with the sheriff's office to complete the death investigation.
