Train fatally strikes pedestrian in Seattle



SEATTLE – Detectives are investigating after a train fatally struck a pedestrian Saturday afternoon.

At around 2:15 p.m. a man was struck by a southbound Amtrak train near 3rd Avenue South and South Lander Street.

The man was attempting to cross the railroad tracks when the warning alarms and railroad crossing arm were activated.

The intersection was shut down for several hours while investigators were on the scene. Train service has resumed and the streets have reopened to traffic.
