Everett police arrest suspect in killing of 54-year-old man whose body was found in swamp

EVERETT, Wash. -- Police arrested a 46-year-old man Thursday and accused him of killing David A. Webster, 54, of Everett,  and dumping his body in a swampy area where it was found April 7.

The suspect was booked into the Snohomish County Jail on murder charges.

"Allegedly, the victim was killed because he stole money from the suspect's girlfriend a few days earlier," Everett Police said in a news release. "The men argued about the theft then fought during which the victim was struck in the head. The suspect bound the victim, found the missing money then realized the victim was dead and tried hiding the body."

No other information was available.

The suspect isn't being identified by Q13 News because he has not been formally charged with a crime.
