Missing Arlington couple's disappearance considered suspicious

ARLINGTON, Wash. -- An Arlington couple is missing, and friends and family are growing concerned with each passing day. Patrick Shunn and Monique Patenaude haven’t been seen since Monday.

Snohomish County sheriff’s deputies returned to the couple’s property Wednesday on Whitman Road in Arlington. The couple’s family tells Q13 News  that Shunn and Patenaude haven’t been seen since Monday. They were supposed to attend a concert with neighbors later in the day but never showed up.

“It was definitely surprising, never thought something like this would happen,” said Anna Upthegrove, a neighbor.

Family members, who had just arrived from Oregon, said they are worried about Patrick and Monique and they’re thankful for all the resources investigators are putting into this case. Investigators say the circumstances are suspicious.

“It’s very unusual for this couple not to be in touch with family and friends for so long,” said Shari Ireton, spokeswoman for the sheriff's office.

Shunn, who his brother says is an ex-Army Airborne Ranger, also failed to show up to work in Kirkland Tuesday, where he was last seen on Monday.

Neighbors said they also grew concerned when they found the couple’s dogs loose outside and the livestock hadn’t been fed, which were all actions they call highly unusual.

The couple’s cars are also missing, including Shun’s 2000 champagne-colored Land Rover Discovery with Washington Veteran Armed Services plate AR-02639 and Patenaude’s 1995 black Jeep Wrangler with Washington plate WB-02789.

Anyone who may have seen this couple or either of these vehicles is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office.
