In raw, emotional vigil, friends, neighbors mourn, pray for slain mom Ingrid Lyne

RENTON, Wash. -- Friends, neighbors and strangers packed St. Matthew's Lutheran Church Tuesday night to remember Ingrid Lyne, the 40-year-old mother of three who police say was murdered and dismembered in her own home.

"We're all here right now cause we're all hurting," said family friend Jim Morrell, who wiped away tears as he addressed those attending the vigil. "Those three beautiful girls, those three beautiful Lyne girls, they have to live with it and it's going to be really hard in the coming months, coming days, coming weeks, coming years."

Lyne's daughters are aged 12, 10, and 7. They were with their dad, Ingrid's former husband, Phil Lyne, last Friday night when she was slain. Police said the killer dismembered her in her bathtub and dropped three of her body parts in a recycling bin in Seattle. The rest of her remains have not yet been found.

A suspect has been arrested. John Charlton, 37, who said he had been dating Lyne for about a month, is accused of killing her.

The horrific murder is being felt by many in this small community.

After the church session, dozens of people walked in silence through the rain -- in twos and threes -- with lighted candles in hand, down the street to the Lyne family home to show solidarity with Ingrid's family.

Members of the family said they would not be able to attend the vigil because the tragedy was still too raw and that they needed time to grieve in private.

But the family issued a written statement earlier in the day that read, in part: "This weekend, a light went out of our lives forever. Ingrid, beloved mother, daughter, sister, and friend was taken from us for reasons we still cannot comprehend. Our hearts are broken and can never be fully mended."

A Go Fund Me page has raised more than $80,000 by Tuesday night to Ingrid's three daughters.

And the church said it is accepting cards and donations for the Lyne family.
