Ex-Tacoma resident gets 4 years in prison, must pay $543,000 restitution to charity St. Vincent de Paul

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A former Tacoma woman has been sentenced to nearly four years in prison for embezzling over $500,000 from St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The Justice Department said in a news release that Angela Toney Saucido was sentenced Monday to 45 months in prison and three years of supervised release for wire fraud and aggravated identity theft.

The 44-year-old who moved to Phoenix but continued to work as a bookkeeper for the Catholic charity in Tacoma was also ordered to pay more than $543,000 in restitution.

U.S. Attorney Annette L. Hayes says because of Saucido's conduct, St. Vincent de Paul has had to close some of its thrift stores and lay off a significant portion of its workforce.
