4 students hospitalized after eating drug-laced gummy candies

PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Four Florida students were rushed to the hospital after eating drug-laced candy, Pinellas school district officials confirmed Monday.

A student at Boca Ciega High School in St. Petersburg brought a bag of gummy candies to class and passed them around, according to WFLA.

At least seven students ate the candies; four were taken to nearby All Children's Hospital as a precaution.

What drug the candy might have been laced with has not been released.

The district immediately notified parents of the students involved.

School officials and the Gulfport Police Department are investigating.
