PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – A man from South Kitsap County was killed Sunday morning in a single-vehicle accident when the truck he was driving struck a tree.

Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office says the man was driving on southbound on J.M. Dickenson Road SW when he veered towards the shoulder and struck a large tree.

The driver, who has been identified as 52-year-old Arthur Leroy Hart, Jr. died at the scene.

According to the Sheriff’s office, he was not wearing a seat belt.

The Sherriff’s office is investigating whether some sort of impairment or medical condition was the cause of the trash and traffic investigators did not observe any obvious indications that Hart was drunk.

J.M. Dickenson Road was closed for more than three hours while the crash was investigated.
