Emerald City Comicon under way: 'I'm a huge nerd and I like being with other huge nerds'

SEATTLE -- You may have run into a few superheroes and other questionable characters in downtown Seattle Thursday.

Thousands of folks decked out in colorful costumes are gathering for the Emerald City Comicon. The comic book and pop culture convention at the Washington State Convention Center started Thursday afternoon and runs through Sunday. You may have spotted your favorite character ... or even a zombie or two.

More than 80,000 are expected to attend this weekend.

Amy Nickerson, of Juneau, Alaska, said, "This is my second year coming back and I like coming here because I'm a huge nerd, and I like being with other huge nerds."
