Port Townsend man accused of threatening neighbor with gun

PORT TOWNSEND, Wash. (AP) — A Port Townsend man has been arrested on suspicion of threatening to shoot his neighbor at an apartment complex.

The Peninsula Daily News reports that 70-year-old James Richards was arrested Tuesday and taken to the Jefferson County jail, where he remains held without bail.

Police say a 38-year-old woman reported that she made comments to Richards about smoking in the common area of the complex. She says she had been walking back to her apartment when Richards pointed a gun at her.

Police say the woman barricaded herself inside her apartment and Richards returned to his residence.

According to police, Richards has had previous disputes with the woman and allegedly admitted to wanting to shoot her.
