Woman dies in ‘freak accident’ while waiting for coffee in drive-thru

SUMMERVILLE, S.C. -- A 28-year-old South Carolina woman was killed in what authorities called a "freak accident" at a drive-thru on Wednesday morning, according to WCSC.

Pamela Page, 28, of North Charleston, S.C., died at approximately 8:52 a.m. Wednesday, the Dorchester County coroner said.

Page was at the drive-thru of Biggby Coffee in Summerville, S.C., when she apparently dropped something out of her car.

Page opened her car door and bent down to pick it up. She then apparently hit the accelerator and was pinned, Summerville Police Capt. Jon Rogers told WCSC.

The coroner said Page died from blunt force trauma to the head and neck.

Biggby Coffee's owner told WCSC he and his employees are in shock that something like this happened.

A friend of the family said Page had three young children, the youngest just a few months old.
