Mariners' estimated value increases $100 million from last year, now up to $1.2 billion

SEATTLE – Fourteen seasons of futility haven’t had much of a negative impact on the Seattle Mariners’ bottom line.

Forbes released its annual rankings of MLB teams’ values this week, estimating the Mariners’ at $1.2 billion. That’s up $100 million from last year, when they were valued at $1.1 billion.

The Mariners are ranked as the No. 12 most valuable team in baseball, well below the New York Yankees and their $3.4 billion valuation.

Forbes estimated the Mariners had $271 million in revenue in 2015.

The current ownership group purchased the group in 1992 for $125 million.
