'Jobs Connect' program created in city to help homeless find full-time employment (VIDEO)

SEATTLE -- The City of Seattle, the United Way of King County, the Millionaire Club Charity, and the Downtown Seattle Association announced Wednesday a new program to help connect the homeless with full-time jobs.

Jobs Connect will seek to contact thousands of homeless individuals each year in the hopes of providing them with part or full-time employment opportunities. The program also seeks to reduce barriers to successful employment by offering individuals a place to shower, clothes, training, and rides to work.

“Those who are living on our streets now have hope, because without hope what do you really have at the end of the day? That’s the Jobs Connect program – it provides hope," said Jim Miller, executive director of the Millionair Club Charity.

Miller and Sara Levin, vice president of community outreach for United Way of King County, joined "Q13 News This Morning" to discuss the new effort.

“We have a vision that everyone has a home, students graduate, and families are financially stable,” Levin said. “Folks can be successful and the entire community benefits when they have the tools they need to be successful.”
