Police: UW student dies of injuries 2 days after being assaulted by boyfriend

SEATTLE -- Seattle police said Tuesday a 22-year-old university of Washington student died of her injuries in the hospital two days after her boyfriend assaulted her.

"Sadly, the victim in this case died from her injuries Tuesday afternoon at Harborview Medical Center. Detectives are now investigating the case as a homicide," the Seattle Police Department tweeted.

Seattle police said earlier that officers responded to a disturbance call Sunday afternoon in the University District area of Seattle. When they arrived, police say they heard people arguing, looked through a window and saw a man assaulting a woman.

Officers say they forced open the door when no one answered and pulled a 21-year-old man off the victim.

Officers performed CPR on the woman, who was unresponsive, until medics arrived and took her to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault, but now it will be for homicide.
