Police: UW student critically injured by boyfriend

SEATTLE (AP) — Seattle police say a 22-year-old university of Washington student was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries after her boyfriend assaulted her.

Seattle police said in a news release that officers responded to a disturbance call Sunday afternoon in the University District area of Seattle. When they arrived, police say they heard people arguing, looked through a window and saw a man assaulting a woman.

Officers say they forced open the door when no one answered and pulled a 21-year-old man off the victim.

Officers performed CPR on the woman, who was unresponsive, until medics arrived and took her to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The suspect was booked into King County Jail for investigation of domestic violence assault.

Police are working with University of Washington officials to investigate.
