Richard Sherman rips Goodell on new rule proposal

SEATTLE - Seahawks cornerback, Richard Sherman is never at a loss for words when talking about the NFL and when asked about Commissioner Roger Goodell’s proposed ejection rule, Sherman didn't hold back.

“I think it’s foolish,” Sherman said in an interview with ESPN. “It sounds like something someone who has never played the game would say, something they would suggest, he (Goodell) doesn’t understand, he’s just a face, just a suit. He’s never stepped on the football field and understood how you can get a personal foul.”

Earlier this year, Goodell suggested that the league would look at ejecting players after two serious personal fouls in a game.

Sherman was also asked about the controversial catch rule and what constitutes a catch.  Instead of the NFL front office making these decisions, the all-pro defensive back had the idea to let the players decide what is and isn't a catch.

“Because you’ve got a bunch of suits doing it,” Sherman said. “You’ve got a bunch of guys who never played.  Let Jerry Rice and Michael Irvin talk about it for about 20, 30 minutes, maybe Cris Carter and Randy Moss. Let those guys have a round-table discussion about what a catch should be and come up with a rule.  I guarantee you it would be more effective than the rule they have now."
