Case dismissed against former Parkland teacher accused of sex with student

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — A former teacher at Washington High School in Parkland has had a sexual misconduct criminal case against him dismissed.

The News Tribune reports (http://goo.gl/AUUBEo ) Pierce County prosecutors haven't been able to contact the alleged victim and say they can't prove a case against Christopher McKay without her testimony.

Court documents say the girl is attending college and that she doesn't want to testify against the 31-year-old former teacher.

McKay had been charged with four counts of sexual misconduct with a minor after the girl told a school official she had been having sex with McKay, who was her sophomore biology teacher, since April 2014.

McKay's attorney Brett Purtzer says McKay is glad it's over and that he's ready to move on with his life.

Prosecutors can refile the charges if she decides to testify.
