Idaho Senate advances permitless concealed carry bill

BOISE, Idaho (AP) _ The Idaho Senate has approved legislation that would allow residents 21 years old and up carry hidden guns without permits or training.

Senate lawmakers voted 27-8 on Wednesday to advance the proposal over the House.

Currently, Idaho allows permits people to carry a gun openly _ in a holster, for instance _ without a permit. The measure would let people carry concealed, loaded guns in public without permits, such as by wearing a coat. People ages 18 through 20 would need a permit and training.

If approved, Idaho would join a small handful of states that don't require concealed carry permits
