Seattle man battling cancer to take part in famous cross-country ski race

SEATTLE -- Gene Thorkildsen is getting ready to take part in the race of a lifetime.  Saturday, Thorkildsen will participate in the Birkenbienerrennet cross-country ski race in Norway.  The 34-mile race (54 km) will be especially challenging for Thorkildsen, considering he’s battling stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer.

An avid skier, Thorkildsen is turning his passion into his motivation to beat cancer and inspire others in their own fight.

A documentary film team has been following Thorkildsen since December and will be with him on race day.

You can follow Thorkildsen and cheer him on as well.  His team will be updating these social media sites.
