Baby gorilla at Woodland Park Zoo gets a name of her own

SEATTLE -- After a public naming contest, the caretakers at the Woodland Park Zoo said Tuesday they chose the name of Yola (rhymes with Lola) for their 4-month-old female gorilla.

The zoo said nearly 3,500 names were submitted by the public.

The zoo said Yola means 'firefly' in the African language Hausa and was chosen because the baby "has been a spark that has catalyzed and solidified the bonds within her mom's group."
