Seattle residents contribute more to Bernie Sanders campaign than any other large city

SEATTLE -- Seattle is apparently really feeling the Bern.

Our news partners The Seattle Times report Seattle ranks No. 1 among the 50 biggest U.S. cities for per-capita contributions to Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. That according to data from the Federal Election Commission and U.S. Census Bureau.

According to Gene Balk, itemized donations from Seattle residents to Sanders totaled $596, 578 through the end of January, which equals about $893 per 1,000 residents.

Seattle was followed closely by No. 2 San Francisco and No. 3 Portland.

Sanders recently opened a campaign office in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood.

The Seattle Times is the only major daily newspaper in the country that has endorsed Bernie Sanders in the Democratic presidential primary.
