Renton Police search for suspect in attempted child luring case

RENTON, Wash. --  A boy tells Renton police a man grabbed him while he walked down the street. Now, neighbors say they’re afraid to let their children outside.

“It’s a little scary that there's somebody around here that's trying to take kids,” says Laura Colasurto.

Colasurto is keeping a close eye on her two toddlers after Renton police say someone tried to lure a child just around the corner from her home on Meadow Avenue North.

“It’s terrifying and we know those kids.  Their ball always goes in our yard and they come get it. They're sweet, sweet kids,” says Colasurto.

The victim's father says his two sons, 6 and 9 years old, were walking home from school Monday afternoon. The 6-year-old was just a little bit ahead of the 9-year-old. They say a man hopped over the sound barrier that block noise from Interstate 405, put his hand on the 6-year-old's shoulder, saying, "Come with me."

Police say the two boys ran home and told their dad what happened.

“It’s definitely scary and makes me not want to let my kids out of my sight ever,” says Colasurto.

Police K-9s tracked the area near the sound barrier, but found nothing.

Neighbors are taking extra precautions to keep their children safe.

“I used to let my kids out in the backyard by themselves sometimes, taking a look at them through the window every once in a while. I don't think I’m going to be doing that. I want them to catch this guy and definitely have people and kids be aware for sure,”says Colasurto.

The suspect is described as a young white man, possibly in his teens, about 6-foot, thin build with brown or black hair.  He wore an orange jacket and orange shorts. If you know anything about the incident, you are urged to call 911.
