Four-car crash with serious injuries creates long backups on NB I-5 in Tukwila

TUKWILA, Wash. -- At least three people were hurt in a crash involving four cars on northbound Interstate 5 just north of SR 599.

Crews were called just before 1:30 p.m. Thursday after reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

Washington State Patrol troopers said four lanes remained blocked until shortly before 4 p.m., when all lanes were reopened.

Trooper Chris Webb said two people suffered critical injuries and one person was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Webb said a tire or wheel came off of a car. A second car then struck the wheel  and became stuck in the road. A total of four cars were involved.

Medics and State Patrol were at the scene.

WSDOT advised drivers to seek alternate northbound routes such as I-405 or SR 99.
