8-year-old 'Z' dies after two-year battle with leukemia

SEATTLE -- This news is heart-wrenching.  The little girl whose smile lit up the room passed away Thursday in her mother's arms after a two-year battle with leukemia.  Eight-year-old Zaraiyah "Z" Broddy died at Seattle Children's Hospital.

"Her eyes opened and I know she saw angels," said her mom, Sheara Broddy.

Just a couple of weeks ago, 'Z' visited the Shoreline Fire Department, had dinner with them and got to ride in a fire engine. After her passing Thursday, 10 firefighters from the Shoreline Fire Department said they will be climbing in Z's memory Sunday at the Columbia Tower.

The Shoreline Fire Department started the Scott Firefighter Stairclimb 25 years ago to raise money for the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society. Please donate and support their efforts so no more little girls like Z are taken by leukemia.  You can donate here: http://www.llswa.org/site/PageServer?pagename=sfs_2015_about
