Olympia police arrest man after random stabbing on Woodland Trail



OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Police said they arrested a 36-year-old man believed to be responsible for a stabbing last month along the Woodland Trail.

Authorities said they arrested Jasen Tester, a transient, on Tuesday and booked him into jail in Thurston County.

The attack happened Feb. 10 on the Woodland Trail near the intersection with Boulevard Rose Southeast.

The victim said he was just out walking the trail when someone stabbed him in the back. He got a look at his attacker and said the didn't know him. Police say they think the attack was unprovoked and random.

The victim was seriously injured but is recovering.

Police had warned hikers in the area to be extra cautious after the attack.
