Police investigating fire at Idaho principal's home as arson

PAYETTE, Idaho (AP) — Authorities say they are investigating a fire at an Idaho high school principal's house as arson.

KTVB reports that Payette High School principal Mark Heleker says the flames started early on Feb. 22 and quickly spread throughout the house. He says his family's home of 16 years is almost a total loss.

Payette Fire Chief Steve Castenada says the blaze started in a trash can outside the garage. Police Chief Mark Clark says the fire is now being investigated arson.

Clark says investigators are looking into several juvenile suspects.

The investigation is ongoing.
