Overnight fire destroys Lacey home; arson investigation underway

THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. -- Sheriff's deputies launched an arson investigation after a fire destroyed a home early Tuesday morning.

Investigators say a woman called 911 to report the fire at a house on the 6900 block of Marvin Road NE near Lacey.

When firefighters arrived just after midnight, the home was filled with flames and heavy smoke poured from the roof.

Investigators are now looking for a man who took off from the property at the time of the fire, according to the Thurston County Sheriff's Office.

Neighbor say the home has been vacant and that squatters may have been staying there. Arson investigators will be at the home to determine the exact cause of the fire.

There are no reports of any injuries, but the home appears to be a total loss.
