Seattle's Paseo named third-best place to eat in the U.S.

SEATTLE - It's been an awfully wild couple of years for a place that sells sandwiches.

Paseo, the popular sandwich shop that was shut down in late 2014 before reopening under new management last year, was named the third best place to eat in the U.S. by Yelp on Wednesday.

It was one of four Washington eateries on the list, and all four are in Seattle. Bakery Nouveau came in at 41, Pike Place Chowder was No. 81, and Cafe Besalu was No. 94.

Paseo's former owners - Julian and Lucas Lorenzo, who took over the family business from their father, Lorenzo Lorenzo - have since opened a new sandwich shop, Un Bien.

Two California restaurants topped the list: Porto's Bakery & Cafe in Burbank was No. 1, and Cheese Board Pizza in Berkeley was No. 2.
