Man shot in chest, critically injured during dispute in a McDonald's parking lot in Kent, police say

Update: A 16-year-old boy suspected of being involved in the altercation turned himself in on Saturday morning, Kent Police said.

KENT, Wash. -- A young man was shot in the chest at close range Friday night during a dispute in a McDonald's parking lot with another man he apparently knew, police said.

The victim was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition.

The shooting occurred at about 7:30 p.m. at the McDonald's parking lot at 10125 SE 256th St.

Police said the suspect fled on foot and was not immediately taken into custody, but added the victim and suspect apparently knew each other and that this was not a random shooting. For that reason, police said, there was no concern for public safety.
