Blood-soaked man in van arrested after woman's throat cut in South Lake Union

SEATTLE - Seattle police have arrested a man they believe cut a woman's throat in South Lake Union early Friday morning.

Police were called to Boren Ave. N. and Mercer St. at 2 a.m., where they found a woman with a severe cut to her throat.

The injury was so bad she couldn't talk, but she used handwritten notes to tell the police where to find a suspect.

More officers came and helped find the 62-year-old man in a van close by. The man was covered in blood and told police he was involved.

The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center, and the man was booked into King County Jail for felony assault.
