2 Seattle school district levies pass; other election results from King, Snohomish, Pierce counties



SEATTLE Seattle’s voters on Tuesday night approved the renewal of two school district levies.

With more than 96,000 ballots counted, unofficial returns show the 3-year, $758.3M Operations Levy receiving 71.07 percent yes votes and the $475.3M, 6-year capital levy, Buildings Technology and Academics IV, also garnering support from 70.79 percent of voters.

“On behalf of the 52,000 students served by Seattle Public Schools, I want to express my gratitude to Seattle voters,” said Seattle Public Schools Superintendent Larry Nyland. “We need the support and collaboration of our entire community to reach the goal we have for our students – that they graduate from high school prepared for college, career and life. The consistent strong approval for Seattle levies is just one of the many ways in which our community shows that support.”

The Operations Levy represents more than 25 percent of Seattle Public Schools' general fund operating budget and supports educational programs and services not fully funded by the state. It pays for;
