Vancouver settles $200,000 suit with ex-worker

VANCOUVER, Wash. (AP) — The city of Vancouver has agreed to pay a former employee $200,000 to settle a suit she filed accusing her supervisor of bullying, gender discrimination and retaliation.

The Columbian reports (http://goo.gl/xPtMU3 ) the City Council approved the payment to Kimberly Armstrong Monday, settling the February 2015 suit against the city and her former boss, Kevin Yin.

Assistant City Attorney Daniel Lloyd said in an email that the payout doesn't admit any wrongdoing by the city or Yin. He said it was made to avoid potential costs of taking the case to trial.

Armstrong alleges in her lawsuit that Yin became aggressive toward her when he became her supervisor in 2011. She claims the city failed to maintain a safe work environment by tolerating Yin's behavior.

Yin still works for the city.
