How a multimillion-dollar Bellevue home will help kids with cancer

BELLEVUE, Wash. --  An amazing new home is going up for sale on the Eastside.   Q13 Cares teamed up with the St. Jude Dreamhome Showplace in Bellevue to cut the ribbon on the multimillion-dollar home Thursday night.

It was built with the finest materials and craftsmanship.  The builders thought of everything -- from the giant soaking tub upstairs to the marble counters in the kitchen.  It's even got a temperature-controlled wine cellar.

But the best part - is  all the profits from its sale will go to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis - for children's cancer research.

John Buchan Homes donated its time and resources to build the home.    Heather Dosch of John Buchan Homes said it was all to help kids, in the fight of their lives.

"Everybody that participated in the project donated something that helps keep the build costs at a bare minimum.  That allows that profit to be larger than it ordinarily would be.  So we're anticipating the donation -depending on what it sells for - at a half a million or more," she said.

That money - will be used to buy something far more precious - time.  Jeff Brauns' son Brandon was treated at St. Jude when he developed cancer in 2003.  Brauns toured a boy's bedroom in the Bellevue home decorated in Brandon's honor,  and teared up as he spoke of how grateful he is for what St. Jude did for his son.

"St. Jude, the research they do - they gave us seven extra years with Brandon - seven great years," he said.   Thanks to that care, Brandon outlived his original prognosis by many years, but he ended up losing his fight with cancer.    His treatment was free - which is why it`s so important to sell this home.

You can tour the home starting Saturday,  through the end of February.   Even if you're not in the market, you can enter to win a $10,000 gift card from McDonald's Fine Furniture.   The home is located at 2417 105th Avenue NE in Bellevue.   On Saturday, tours run from 9am to 5pm and noon to 5pm on Sundays.
