Vancouver, Wash., man drowns in Hood Canal scuba diving accident

SHELTON, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say a man has died while scuba diving in the Hood Canal near Shelton.

The victim, 56-year-old Todd Randall MacDonald, of Vancouver, Wash., had been diving with a group near Hoodsport when he died Sunday.

The Mason County Coroner Wes Stockwell said MacDonald died from saltwater drowning. He said that additional tests will be conducted to determine what events led up to the drowning. The manner of death is listed as an accident.

 

Emergency personnel had responded to the area after a report that the man had surfaced while unconscious.

An investigation into the death is ongoing.
