58-year-old woman crossing Seattle's Beacon Avenue struck by car, killed

SEATTLE -- A 58-year-old woman  was killed after being struck by a car while crossing Beacon Avenue Tuesday, Seattle police said.

The accident occurred at about 11:45 a.m., when  vehicle turning southbound on Beacon Avenue South struck the woman in the area of the crosswalk at S. McClellan St.

Medics responded and the pedestrian was transported to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. She later died at the hospital.

The 67-year-old driver of the car was uninjured and was cooperating with investigators, police said. He was evaluated at the scene and showed no signs of impairment, police added.
