78-year-old man charged with sexually abusing young boy for at least 4 years

KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) — A 78-year-old man has been charged with raping an elementary school boy for at least four years in Kennewick.

The Tri-City Herald reports (http://goo.gl/4AtDAv ) William G. Nicol was charged in Benton County Superior Court with first-degree child molestation and two counts of first-degree rape of a child.

Nicol was arrested Monday and posted $10,000 bail.

Court documents say the boy told a relative earlier this year he had been sexually abused by Nicol. The boy then met with investigators and said the abuse started when he was young. He claimed Nicol would touch him inappropriately while the boy was taking a shower, and that escalated to being raped “on many occasions,” documents said.
Nicol is scheduled to enter a plea at his arraignment Dec. 31.
