Pedestrian hit by car, seriously hurt in Everett

EVERETT, Wash. -- One person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries after being hit by a car Monday morning in Everett.

Everett police were called around 7:30 a.m. to Rucker Ave. near The Everett Clinic.

Investigators said the driver of the car stayed at the scene and was cooperating. Authorities said she was pretty shaken up.

They are unsure if the man was in a nearby unmarked crosswalk when he was hit.

"Pedestrians do have the right-of-way in those areas. However, pedestrians also need to be safe and careful as they cross the road," said police spokesperson Aaron Snell. "On this stretch of road, a little further down the road there is a marked crosswalk with lights because it's a busy road."

Rucker Avenue was closed for several hours but reopened by 9 a.m.
