Texas billionaire gives his entire company $100,000 bonuses

HOUSTON – He’s like Scrooge, only the exact opposite.

A Texas billionaire whose energy company is in the middle of a great stretch of business gave every one of his workers a heck of a Christmas bonus: $100,000.

Forbes reported that Hilcorp owner Jeffery Hildebrand decided to issue the bonuses after his company doubled its output for the second time in five years.

Forbes estimates the bonuses will cost Hildebrand about $100 million because they’re prorated if the employee’s been with the company fewer than five years. A ton of money, of course, though Hildebrand is worth an estimated $5.9 billion.

"It’s just a true gift," long-time receptions Amanda Thompson told Houston’s FOX 4 News. "And I think myself, along with everyone, is not going to give any less than 100  percent each day."
