Students shocked after threats posted online

EDMONDS -- Police say two teens - one 15 years old and the other 16 - posted racially charged threats online about "lynching" and also posted about a potential attack at Edmonds-Woodway High School that would leave "dead bodies."

Officers arrested the suspects who made those threats on Tuesday. Police say the teens singled out two African American classmates, but also made a threat about an attack against the entire school.

Students at the school said they were shocked by the news. Senior Zander Hall-Spicuzza said he didn't hear about the threats until after school.

"I personally think that there’s no room for that, and if you’re going to post something like that online you should have some form of consequence for sure," he said.

Police investigated the posts for a week before making the arrest.

"We don’t find these things funny," Sgt. Shane Hawley said. "We take everything at face value and we’re going to investigate it as such."

The threats were allegedly posted on a Facebook page. Authorities found out about the site when another student saw the comments and informed educators.

The Edmonds School District sent a letter to parents and expelled the students.

Police say the teens will likely be charged with malicious harassment.
