Bus driver accused of driving drunk

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — Hillsboro police say they have arrested a TriMet bus driver on suspicion of drunken driving after passengers reported that he had been operating the bus erratically.

The Oregonian reports (http://goo.gl/rmx16G ) that 39-year-old Michael Joseph Bottcher was arrested Sunday. He has been ordered to appear in court on the drunken driving charge and released.

Lt. Mike Rouches says an officer had pulled over the bus driver and asked Bottcher to perform field sobriety tests, which he failed.

Rouches says police don't believe that the suspect had been drinking on the bus.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

TriMet officials issued a statement Monday saying they have also launched an investigation.
