Local expert urges people to be vigilant regarding terrorism signs

SEATTLE -- On the heels of the news that the shooters in the San Bernardino massacre had become radicalized, a local expert offered advice Friday on warning signs of potential terrorism.

Former FBI Terrorism Task Force specialist, David Gomez, doesn't believe another terrorism act is eminent and says we shouldn't act in fear.

"You probably have more risk of being struck by lightning or being run over by a bus in your neighborhood," Gomez said.  "That doesn’t mean you should not look both ways before you cross the street."

Gomez says there are telling warning signs to watch out for and says we should all be alert.

Authorities say the neighbors of Syed Farook noticed several packages delivered to his address. Others in the community also noticed Farook and his wife, Tashfeen Malik, working in their garage late into the night. Authorities say neighbors never reported these warning signs to police.

Gomez says we should watch for sudden changes in behavior. Perhaps a person who was normally outgoing suddenly becomes introverted and doesn't socialize.

"It’s about behavior and not about what a person looks like," Gomez said.
