Logger discovers human skull in Snohomish County forest

Snohomish County sheriff's detectives are investigating after a logger reported finding an adult human skull in a forest.

The logger called 911 last week to say he found a skull while marking trees on private timberland near Gold Bar.

Sheriff's spokesman Shari Ireton says the medical examiner's office will attempt to identify the human remains.

She says once that happens, investigators will decide the next steps. It's unclear yet whether foul play was involved or how the skull came to be in the forest.

No other human remains were found at the site.
